MY PERSONAL REVIEW
This is a great book to help children learn about what time out is and how they can avoid it in the future. It's also a very helpful guide for parents and even teachers to learn how to use time out as a learning experience rather than just a punishment. Back when I was young we didn't have time outs, we just had paddles - and that isn't something a lot of parents don't agree with in today's world. This book serves as a guide for how they can not just use time out, but how they can make the most of even a small period of time out. And of course no physical punishment is required, the child simply learns that when they do something wrong, they will have to sit quietly by themselves with nothing else to do for a certain amount of time. And how they can possibly learn to use that time to think about what has happened. Very nice book for both children and parents/teachers :) I loved the illustrations in the book and the ease of understanding was good for both children and adults.

In Please explain Time Out To Me, Drs. Laurie and Fred Zelinger offer a clear, concise and insightful look at the often misunderstood and misinterpreted concept of time out. Combining colorful illustrations and story line for children and step-by-step guidelines and principles for parents and adults, the book has unique appeal to both. I highly recommend this book, particularly to parents foraging through the tangled, complicated and sometimes scary web called parenthood.

Thumbs up for Drs. Zelingers book on explaining time out to kids. As a busy working mom with six children, I have used time out effectively. I would recommend reading this book to help understand the benefits of time out for both parents and children, and the effectiveness of time-out as a learning tool. Drs. Zelinger’s thought out story will be a helpful, useful contribution for kids, parents and teachers.
