With
everything I have to say, not even a letter makes its way out of my
mouth. My short breaths intercalate with my rapid pulse, causing my
insides to tremble. If I speak, my shaky voice will reveal how much
she affects me, so I love her
in silence. Ah.
There’s that word again. I try
replacing it with “like,”but it’s underwhelming. What we have
between us is bigger than what she is ready to handle. Maybe
even what I’m able to handle. We freed our
bodies to act, giving them the liberty to explore our desires, when
our hearts were still imprisoned—hers to Jace and mine to fear. We
upped the timeline on us, sabotaging any possibility of a future.
Giving in again will keep us stuck in the same vicious loop of
selfishness, neither of us caring about the consequences and both of
us hurting each other in the process. We were more than just a
careless accident of circumstance or a twisted game of fate. At least, she
means more than that to me. She’s the
blank page in my romance novel, full of unknown potential and
suffocating uncertainty. When we put ink to page, like touch to
bodies, our words will write a story that only our hearts can live.
It will be unique and completely us, free of restrictions and
