Grown Enough For Love

Genre: Contemporary New Adult Romance
Publication Date: December 13, 2019
Savannah is a rich girl who comes from a troubled, loveless family. To make her childhood bearable, she was always tagging along with her older brother, Jay, and his best friend, Gabriel. After getting out of town for four long years while attending an out-of-state college, Savannah is back and the old schoolgirl crush on Gabriel she thought had dampened flames right back to life.
Gabriel grew up on the wrong side of town, in a poor Mexican family who may not have had money, but always had plenty of love to go around. Although he’s always thought of his best friend’s little sister as a little sister of his own, things have changed. Gabriel can’t help noticing Savannah is all grown up now. Single for the first time in years, with a two-year-old son in tow, Gabriel decides that maybe, after all these years, Savannah is grown enough for love.
When
he turned around to leave the bedroom, he saw Savannah standing in
the doorway. He held out the tissues for her and she sat on the bed.
Gabriel didn’t feel like arguing her back into the living room for
decency’s sake, so he sat on the bed beside her. “He
took one look at me and said his dad had told him I was more
attractive... and he didn’t want to be seen in public with someone
who looked like me,” Savannah started crying again. Between choked
sobs, she said, “Then he … just … left … and …” Gabriel
pulled Savannah to him again. “Oh, kitten. Shhhh. You’re
beautiful. He’s an idiot. Don’t let his words get to you.” Savannah
looked up with a tear-stained face. “You think I’m beautiful,
Gabe?” Gabriel
nodded. “Yes, I do.” Oh God did he. She was the perfect woman in
his eyes. How could this other idiot not see that? How could any man
think Savannah was unattractive? Savannah
said nothing but continued sniffling against his shoulder. Gabriel
couldn’t take it any longer. He hated seeing Savannah upset, and
she was being so hard on herself. If Gabriel could have, he would
have knocked George Johnson flat on his ass. “Kitten, it’s his
fault. Not yours. He’s an idiot if he can’t see what you’re
worth.” Savannah
sniffled and wiped at the tears falling down her face. “Stop
calling me kitten, Gabriel. I’m not a kitten.” Gabriel
scooted closer until their legs touched. He was thankful Jay was away
for the night, and thankful Rio had gone to his parents. “You’ll
always be my little kitten,” he whispered the words into her ear.
Savannah turned her face towards him. Before he could back out of his
decision, Gabriel leaned in to press his lips against hers.
