This was an excellent short read, perfect for summer. Sadie and her little Yorkie Coco are on a "vacation" in California at a wonderful resort, she is waiting to see the celebrity Garrison Quinlan, who is scheduled to appear at a party. That evening though, as they are anxiously awaiting his arrival, a very distressed man appears and tells everyone that something has happened and he can't say what, but that Quinlan will not be there. The next day Sadie sees a commotion on the beach and realizes that there is a body - but is it the famous celebrity or someone else? It seems as if it must be Quinlan seeing as he is missing as far as they know, but it definitely gives Sadie the thought that it could in fact be the celeb's body. So of course she and her friend Myrtle have to get involved and discover the truth. This is one of those novels that makes me smile because although Sadie is the owner of a boutique back home, she also has a "flair" for figuring things out, and she is dead set on finding out what exactly has happened to Mr Quinlan. There are a few smaller characters along the way such as James Chalinder, manager for Quinlan. Although he seems like a nice man when we are seeing him through they eyes of Sadie, something rubbed me the wrong way about him and I had to start wondering if he may have had something to do with Quinlan's disappearance or death. Although now I am also starting to wonder if the disappearance is really a strategic move for the celebrity to get the PR, or if he really is missing or dead ... what did you think, that I was going to give you the answer and give away the ending??? Ohhh no, you have to read this very awesome book to find out what happens! Mystery and a possible murder under the bright California sun - what else could a fashionable lady ask for??? What I really love about Sadie is that she is so funny and she has NO problem saying exactly what is on her mind - like when she just comes right out and tells the investigator that she knows a body washed up on the beach. Totally something that most people wouldn't have the guts to do :) So I really loved her character and of course who doesn't love Yorkies??? I really enjoyed this book and I can't give away the plot and ending, but just trust me when I say you will love it :) So go grab a copy and have some summer fun reading!
