If I Knew Then What I Know Now About Writing

What I know now that I didn’t know then is that writing is an endurance sport! I think that to be good at writing, you have to practice, train, analyze, discipline yourself and dig deep on a daily basis—just like an athlete. But equally important, I am learning, is to give yourself breaks too. Every sport has an off-season, so make sure you take opportunities to recharge now and then. You’ll come back to the keyboard refreshed and ready to hit that word count!
